Santa Fe Spirits’ Newest Face

Company News & Announcements

John Jeffrey

This press release featuring our newest face and head distiller, John Jeffrey, made it into the Santa Fe New Mexican last week. Check out how awesome he is!

Santa Fe Spirits, Santa

Fe’s own micro distillery has added a brand new member to its team. John

Jeffrey will be taking over in the Mallard Way distillery, producing Santa Fe’s

own artisanal hand-crafted spirits, ranging from their Calvados Style Apple

Brandy to their Colkegan Mesquite Smoked Single Malt Whiskey.

Hailing most recently from Middleton, Wisconsin, John got his official start in the spirits industry

while completing his master’s degree in Food Chemistry at Michigan State

University. During this time, John was head of R&D for the Artisan

Distilled Spirits Program where he designed and produced spirits for more than

fifteen start-up companies.

Upon the completion of his master’s degree, John became the head distiller at Death’s Door Spirits in Middleton, where he

oversaw the design and build of the distillery itself, while also running the

production of over 50,000 cases of spirits. John continues to help craft

distilleries all over the country on a consulting basis.

Santa Fe Spirits owner,

Colin Keegan, as well as his team and incredibly excited to welcome John on

board and are looking forward to the unique perspective and experience that he

brings to the Santa Fe Spirits Distillery. John will be helped in his work by

another new face, Noya Gilmore, and Santa Fe native and UNM graduate, who has

taken over the role of Assistant Distiller.

John has now been with

Santa Fe Spirits for three months and was recently joined by his wife and two

kids, who are enjoying finding out what life in Santa Fe is all about.
