Santa Fe Spirits Moves South

Company News & Announcements

There are some awesome South American cocktails that are slowly but surely making their way into the U.S., although their popularity isn’t quite what it should be considering how tasty they are. At Santa Fe Spirits, we decided to take a look at two South American classics and see if we could make them using our own spirits.

First, the Caipirinha. The Caipirinha is a traditional Brazilian cocktail made with Cachaca, sugar, and lime. The sourness of the lime counteracts the sweetness of the cachaca (sugar came hard liquor) making for a combination of sour and sweet in a very unique cocktail. Now, with experimentation, we found that there are several combos of Santa Fe Spirits that could make a passable Caipirinha, but one in particular stood our above the rest.

This recipe calls for:

- Mint Infused Expedition Vodka

- Guava Puree

- One Lime

- Simple Syrup

Cut the lime and muddle one half of it with simply syrup in a pint glass. Add a spoonful of guava puree and 2.5 ounces of mind vodka. Shake with ice and pour everything into a rocks glass. Garnish with a lime. (For mint vodka just add a few mint leaves to your bottle of vodka for just a couple of days)

Next, we took a look at a Pisco Sour. Now, Pisco Sours are claimed by several different South American countries, but the essentials of the drink remain the same. Pisco, the main alcoholic component of the drink is a brandy made from a grape wine primarily in Chile and Peru. Along with the rest of the ingredients it makes for an awesome alternative to a whiskey sour. It still leaves that sour punch in your mouth, but with a hint of sweetness from the brandy, keeping a great balance that will excite your palate.

For a Santa Fe Sour you will need:

-Santa Fe Spirits Apple Brandy

- Egg Whites (don’t let that scare you)

- Bitters

- Fresh Lime

-Simple Syrup

In a pint glass, combine 3 ounces of apple brandy with four dashes of bitters, half a fresh squeezed lime, and 1/2 oz of egg whites. Shake this over ice and pour into a rocks glass. Garnish with a lime and straw.
